About the photo

This artwork transcends a simple stylized painting of a lion, as it embodies the concept of "The Dichotomy of Expression". The piece aims to explore the contrast between one's public persona and their inner selves, with the lion serving as a metaphor for fierce conviction.

The inspiration for this work comes from the gendered double standards that women often face in daily life, where they must walk a fine line between displaying too much or too little emotion. The piece addresses the societal expectations for women to be strong but not authoritative, compassionate yet not weak.

The lion's colorful mane juxtaposed with its ferocity symbolizes the physical manifestation of these opposing expressions, thereby capturing the essence of the dichotomy of expression.

"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." - Gloria Steinem.

Frequently, my artistic creations draw inspiration from significant political events in history that I perceive as requiring a creative response. Art serves as a medium through which I can express my commentary on such events with fluency and efficacy.
